The Ranger has a 90 mm waist width that offers good performance both on and off groomed slopes. Fischer does a good job keeping the weight down without sacrificing stability as the Ranger uses traditional Sandwich Sidewall Construction known for torsional stiffness and edge grip, but uses a Fiber Tech core that reduces overall weight compared to most all mountain skis. On groomers this torsional stiffness helps hold an edge, and while the 90 mm waist width certainly isn't the narrowest, it still provides a relatively quick feel edge to edge. Off the groomers the Freeski Rocker profile and that same 90 mm waist width provide good stability and a nice amount of float for skiing soft snow. Combine these performance characteristics and you've got a very playful ski that you can ski on the groomers and off without hesitation. Because it doesn't use metal or excessively stiff wood the Ranger is very approachable for less aggressive skiers, even all the way down to relatively athletic beginners.
